Proof of our commitment exists in the form of a brand new incentive and growth program developed by the City of Hastings, Hastings Utilities, and the Hastings Economic Development Corporation in 2011. The program, which went into effect January 1, 2012, has already helped to assist two local companies, Thermo King and Drake Tool and Design.

Because of our community's appreciation and concern for its existing industry, Hastings and the Hastings Economic Development Corporation have enjoyed a great deal of success with the recruitment of new industry and the introduction of new businesses to the community. Our level of manufacturing employment is nearly twice the national average, our 50 mile labor pool is in excess of 100,000, and our community's utility infrastructure is built to meet the needs of industry now and well into the future. Testaments to Hastings' commitment to industry include three developed industrial parks, a brand new $650 million power plant, and a commitment of $5 million in incentive funding by Hastings Utilities to assist in economic development projects over the next five years.
